About the Role
The Rigging TD will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-quality character and creature rigs that support expressive animation and efficient production workflows. They will create body and facial rigs, develop deformation systems, integrate rigs with motion capture data, and ensure stability and performance across all shots. The role involves working closely with animators, the Animation Director, and the Technical Director to troubleshoot issues, improve rig usability, and deliver scalable rig solutions for both in-house and remote teams.
Requirements
5+ years of professional experience in character and creature rigging
Strong expertise in building body and facial rigs in Maya/Blender or similar tools
Good knowledge of anatomy, deformation, and skinning techniques
Experience integrating and retargeting motion capture data to rigs
Proficiency in scripting (Python, MEL, or equivalent) for rig automation
Understanding of animation workflows and animator-friendly controls
Experience rigging non-human and hybrid characters
Ability to debug and fix complex rig issues quickly
Strong communication skills to work with animators and technical teams
Ability to deliver stable rigs under tight production schedule
